Rhythm Careers has relaunched its #BeMoreInclusive initiative, a programme dedicated to widening access and creating meaningful opportunities for under-represented groups across architecture and design.
Originally founded in 2020 by Rhythm Careers Director Mark Nagle, the initiative returns following proven impact in its earlier form and is now being further developed under Rhythm Careers, a recruitment business built on a more human, inclusive and socially driven approach.
Through a strengthened partnership with Blueprint for All, #BeMoreInclusive will now directly support the charity’s flagship Building Futures programme.
A renewed commitment to inclusion
Speaking on the relaunch, Mark Nagle said:
“When we first launched #BeMoreInclusive, it was about creating real opportunities for people who might otherwise be overlooked. The results showed what’s possible when you take a more proactive, inclusive approach. With Rhythm Careers, we now have the platform to take that further and embed it into everything we do.”
Long-term partnership and practical support
As part of its ongoing commitment, Rhythm Careers will:
- Donate £10,000 annually to Blueprint for All in support of Building Futures
- Facilitate mentoring between inclusive architectural practices and programme participants
- Provide tailored career support, including CV and portfolio guidance, interview preparation and personal branding
- Connect emerging talent directly with live opportunities across the industry
- Support at least five Building Futures graduates into employment each year
- Contribute an additional £250 per successful placement made through a #BeMoreInclusive partner
Addressing barriers within the industry
Despite growing awareness of the need for change, representation across architecture and the wider built environment continues to lag behind wider society.
According to the Architects Registration Board’s 2023 survey, just 1% of registered architects identify as Black or Black British, and 8% as Asian or Asian British.
Alongside this, structural barriers — including unpaid or low-paid experience periods and reliance on informal networks — continue to limit access to the profession for many.
Building Futures at 10 years
Blueprint for All’s Building Futures programme was created to address these challenges by equipping young people from under-represented backgrounds with the skills, confidence and networks needed to succeed in architecture and design.
As the programme marks its 10th anniversary, its mission remains as relevant as ever.
Sonia Watson OBE, Chief Executive of Blueprint for All, said:
“As Building Futures marks its tenth anniversary, barriers into architecture and design remain, making this work as important as ever. The relaunched initiative will strengthen opportunities for the next generation, helping talent thrive regardless of background, and we’re excited to see the industry come together with Blueprint for All and Rhythm Careers.”
Industry impact and call to action
Between 2020 and 2023, #BeMoreInclusive helped support young people into their first roles, raised vital funding, and gained national recognition for its impact.
Its return marks a renewed commitment from Rhythm Careers — not only to connect talent with opportunity, but to actively help reshape how the industry accesses and develops future professionals.
For architecture and design practices, joining the #BeMoreInclusive community offers:
- Access to a more diverse pipeline of emerging talent
- A direct role in supporting long-term skills development in the sector
- A practical way to demonstrate measurable social value
As expectations around inclusion and responsible hiring continue to grow, initiatives like this are becoming central to how organisations show meaningful impact.
Be part of something bigger
Commenting on the relaunch of the initiative, Mark Nagle added:
“This isn’t a side initiative for us, it’s fundamental to how we believe recruitment should be done. If we want a more representative and resilient industry, we all need to play a part in creating it.”
We’re now inviting architectural practices to join us as partners and play an active role in shaping a more inclusive future for the next generation.
