Human Rights Commitment
At Rhythm Careers, we believe responsible business starts with respecting people, their rights and their dignity.
As a recruitment consultancy, our work influences people’s access to employment opportunities and connects businesses with talent. We therefore recognise our responsibility to operate fairly, ethically and with respect for internationally recognised human rights.
Our commitment
Rhythm Careers is committed to respecting internationally recognised human rights across our organisation, our recruitment activities and our business relationships.
Our approach is guided by:
- the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR);
- the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs); and
- the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
We believe everyone should be treated with dignity, fairness and respect, and we seek to ensure that our business practices reflect these principles.
Fundamental rights at work
We are committed to respecting the fundamental principles and rights at work recognised by the ILO, including:
- freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
- the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour;
- the effective abolition of child labour;
- the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation; and
- a safe and healthy working environment.
We will not knowingly support, facilitate or participate in practices that are inconsistent with these fundamental rights.
Respecting people through recruitment
As specialists in Architecture and Interior Design recruitment, we recognise the particular responsibility we have in helping people access employment opportunities.
We are committed to fair, transparent and ethical recruitment and to treating candidates, employees, clients, suppliers and partners with dignity and respect.
We seek to:
- provide fair and equitable access to employment opportunities;
- promote inclusive and non-discriminatory recruitment practices;
- challenge discriminatory or unlawful recruitment practices;
- respect people’s privacy and personal information;
- support safe and healthy working environments;
- avoid knowingly participating in recruitment involving forced or child labour; and
- encourage the clients and organisations we work with to uphold appropriate human rights and employment standards.
Our Human Rights Commitment works alongside our Ethical Recruitment & Inclusive Hiring Policy, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy, Employee Handbook and other relevant policies.
Raising concerns
We encourage our employees, candidates, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to raise concerns if they believe our activities, or activities connected to our business relationships, may be inconsistent with our human rights commitments.
Concerns can be raised through our Stakeholder Feedback & Grievance process.
We take concerns seriously and will seek to understand and address issues appropriately. We are committed to treating people who raise genuine concerns in good faith fairly and respectfully.
Our ongoing responsibility
Respecting human rights is an ongoing responsibility, not a one-off commitment.
We will continue to review our policies, practices and business relationships to identify opportunities to strengthen our approach and respond to changing expectations, legislation and recognised international standards.
Our commitment is overseen at the highest level of Rhythm Careers and forms part of our wider commitment to being a responsible, ethical and people-focused business.
