A commitment to shaping a more inclusive industry
As part of our long-term commitment, we pledge to donate £10,000 annually to Blueprint for All in support of the Building Futures programme, alongside a wider package of support:
Mentoring Programme: Inclusion-focused architectural practices will pledge mentoring hours to support Building Futures beneficiaries and alumni, building confidence, networks, and industry knowledge
Pathways into employment: Rhythm Careers will support a minimum of 5 Building Futures graduates each year into roles within #BeMoreInclusive partner practices.
Free workplace readiness support: CV and portfolio reviews, personal brand coaching, and interview preparation workshops for all participants.
Funding through placements: For every successful placement with a #BeMoreInclusive client, Rhythm Careers will donate an additional £250 to Blueprint for All.
Why Building Futures matters
The spaces we live, work and move through should reflect the diversity of the people who use them. Yet today, the built environment — particularly architecture — does not fully represent the communities it serves.
Despite the UK becoming increasingly diverse, the profession remains disproportionately homogeneous. According to the 2023 Architects Registration Board survey, only 1% of registered architects identify as Black/Black British and 8% as Asian/Asian British.
Barriers to entry remain significant. Architecture typically requires at least five years of study, often followed by low-paid or unpaid placements. For many, this makes the profession financially inaccessible. Access to opportunities is still too often shaped by personal networks and privilege, leaving talented individuals without the connections or practical experience needed to progress.
Why join the #BeMoreInclusive community?
Values in action: Show clients, particularly on London project tenders, that you choose partners committed to inclusion, equality, and social impact.
Access to talent at no cost: Be introduced to talented architecture and interior design graduates supported by the Building Futures programme each year.
Tackle future skills shortages: Support the next generation of talent and strengthen the pipeline across architecture and design.
Boost employee engagement: Give your team meaningful opportunities to mentor participants, building purpose, fulfilment, and loyalty.
Increase your charitable impact: For every paid placement made through Rhythm Careers, we’ll donate an additional £250 to the Building Futures programme.
Gain exclusive access: Receive priority invitations to #BeMoreInclusive events and display the member badge on your website for 12 months.
Between 2020 and 2023, #BeMoreInclusive demonstrated the impact of business and charity working together—winning awards, supporting young people into their first roles, and raising vital funds.
As Building Futures marks its tenth anniversary, barriers into architecture and design remain, making this work as important as ever.
The relaunched initiative will strengthen opportunities for the next generation, helping talent thrive regardless of background, and we’re excited to see the industry come together with Blueprint for All and Rhythm Careers.
