From Norway to London: A journey built on people
Moving abroad had always been a goal for Maria. She relocated from Norway to the UK to study Interior Architecture at the University of Derby and, after discovering the incredible opportunities within London’s design industry, decided to build her career here. She went on to spend three years working in luxury high-end residential interiors.
Although she enjoyed the creativity of the industry, Maria realised her true passion was working with people. Before moving to the UK, she worked full-time as a barber in Norway, where she built lasting relationships with clients and discovered how rewarding it was to help people on a personal level. She still cuts hair once a week, combining one of her longest-standing hobbies with her love of meeting people.
From Designer to Recruiter
Having worked within the architecture and interior design industry herself, Maria understands what it’s like to apply for roles, prepare for interviews, and make important career decisions. That first-hand experience enables her to offer honest guidance, practical advice, and genuine support to designers throughout the recruitment process.
Maria is passionate about helping candidates present themselves with confidence and secure opportunities where they can truly thrive. She also enjoys building long-term relationships with studios, taking the time to understand their culture, team dynamics, project requirements, and what they’re really looking for in a new hire. She believes the best recruitment comes from truly understanding both sides of the process and creating lasting partnerships that benefit clients and candidates alike.
In her own rhythm…
Outside of work, Maria enjoys staying active at the gym and Reformer Pilates, getting out into nature whenever she can, and spending her weekends baking, knitting, or heading to a music festival with friends
